Marti Wright Unger

Marti Wright Then Marti (Wright) Unger - Now

After graduating from RAHS, I attended both Arizona State University and California State University Long Beach, graduating from CSULB with a major in English. My teaching career in the Garden Grove Unified School District was wonderful.....I retired in June of 2005 after 38+ years teaching primarily kindergarten and first grades.

My first marriage ended in divorce in 1977. Then in 1980 I met Don, a wonderful man with two lovely daughters, and we were married the following year. Our 21 year marriage ended in 2003 when Don died of lung cancer.

In April 2004, with information gathered from friend and RAHS classmate Ernie Fretter, Walt Unger surprised me with a reconnecting phone call, a few dinners, and voila!....the rest, as they say, is history :) We've been having a great time together ever since and look forward to celebrating our 5th anniversary in December 2009.

I keeping busy with friends, participating in a book club, attending the theatre, shopping, traveling, decorating our home, and serving as a volunteer. Among other things, I'm the 2009/10 chairman of the Capistrano Committee of the Philharmonic Society of Orange County (PSOC)... keeping busy fundraising and docenting at youth concerts for the children of OC. In addition, I've been enjoying taking some refresher courses in Spanish (Mr. Sexton would be proud :).... which might just be essential knowledge for survival here in California in the future. Ole!
